Bumper Repair Services
Your vehicle’s bumper plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of you and your passengers during a collision. When your vehicle is involved in a low-speed accident, whether with another vehicle or an object, the bumpers absorb the impact energy and disperse it away from the passengers. If the bumper has any scratches or dents in it, it could compromise your vehicle’s structural integrity and put you at risk. Don’t take any chances. If your vehicle’s bumper is cracked or dented, bring it to Garber Collision Center in Rochester and let our techs repair or replace it for you.
On most modern cars, the bumper is composed of a plastic outer shell that encases a cushion made of a durable material that acts as the “crumble zone” of the vehicle. The crumple zone is designed to absorb the impact energy and collapse in a way that protects you and your passengers. While this may lead to scary looking damage when there’s a collision, you and your passengers are more likely to walk away from an accident uninjured thanks to these crumble zones.
If your vehicle’s bumper has any cracks, dents, or damage to it, it makes it harder or even impossible for the crumple zones to respond to an accident the way it was designed to. Our techs can repair smaller dents using a heat treatment that returns the dent to its original shape. Once that’s been done, they’ll use a filler as necessary to smooth the bumper out, then use our computerized paint-matching system as necessary to restore the paint’s finish. We use a similar process when treating small cracks, where an epoxy can be applied to the cracks as long as there’s no underlying damage.
When the bumper has a larger crack or dent that compromises the structural integrity of the crumple zones, a full bumper replacement is necessary. It may not be immediately obvious that your vehicle needs a full bumper replacement, but unseen structural damage is common. Our certified body shop technicians have the knowledge and experience to identify when a full replacement is required, and will use Original Equipment Manufacturer parts to replace the old bumper with a newer, safer one.
